Job summary

Centennial School District is seeking an Maintenance I (Skilled) - Electrician to perform installation, maintenance, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairs of electrical systems, lighting, and related building components across district facilities. You will support Building Supervisors with electrical projects, inspections, and other building maintenance tasks.

The role is Non-Exempt with 260 days per year and a compensation agreement within the School District.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and a training program required.
  • 5–7 years of extensive maintenance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs skilled electrical work in installation, maintenance, repair, and construction of electrical systems and equipment in public school facilities.
  • Performs preventative electrical maintenance and service on district electrical systems.
  • Assists with HVAC tasks including maintenance and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
  • Operates hand and power tools and transports heavy equipment as needed.
  • Responds to emergencies, power failures and storm-related issues promptly.

JOB GOAL

Performs installation, maintenance, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairs of electrical systems, equipment, lighting, controls, and related building systems throughout the School District. Performs electrical work in a safe, efficient, and timely manner to ensure all building components and systems remain functional and compliant with applicable codes and safety standards. Provides assistance to Building Supervisors with electrical maintenance, projects, repairs, inspections, and other building support functions.

Essential Functions
  • Performs skilled electrical work in the maintenance, repair, modification, installation, and construction of electrical systems and equipment throughout public school facilities and district properties. Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and replaces electrical wiring, circuits, panels, switches, receptacles, lighting systems, motors, controls, emergency power systems, and other electrical equipment, etc.
  • Performs preventative electrical maintenance, repairs and services on all the electrical and other related systems in the District.
  • Assists with HVAC mechanical tasks to include installing, maintaining and repairing air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, towers, service of pumps, piping and sheet metal fabrication.
  • Installs, repairs, maintains, and services electrical systems and components, including wiring, electrical panels, switches, receptacles, lighting fixtures, controls, motors, and related electrical equipment.
  • Operates hand tools, power tools, machines, and mechanical systems.
  • Operates and transports heavy equipment, including tractors with loaders, dump trucks, aerators, small and large area mowers and pick-up trucks pulling heavy equipment trailers.
  • Assist in all aspects of a project such as design, layout, material requirements, cost and labor estimates. Accurately order and account for material and labor in relation to assignments.
  • Makes suggestions and recommendations and informs building supervisors of any concerns or issues.
  • Salts and plows during winter months to include secondary campus and elementary schools as needed.
  • Responds to emergency situations, vandalism, power failures, storm damage, and water pipe failures.
  • Performs all assigned work in a safe manner. This includes using all safety equipment when required and maintaining all tools in a safe operating condition.Maintains equipment, work space, and job sites in a clean and orderly way.
  • Complies with District policy, local, state and federal laws and procedures for the use, storage, and disposal of waste, cleaners, chemicals, and all other products and materials used in performing duties.
  • Assists with District assigned lawn areas, including cutting and trimming around buildings fences and trees. Performs tree and shrub maintenance including planting, transplanting, trimming, removal, and disease control.
  • Assists with the preparation of athletic fields for sporting events including cutting, dragging and line painting and for summer sports and band camps.
  • Unloads materials, supplies, and equipment when received.

Performs other duties as assigned. Performs in accordance with school policy, administrative regulations, state and federal laws.
