The Raritan Bay Area YMCA is currently accepting applications/resumes for a part-time Maintenance Handyman.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic urban, growing organization just 5 miles west of New York City in the waterfront city of Perth Amboy. The Raritan Bay Area YMCA has served the evolving needs of our community since 1912. We serve over 6,000 members through initiatives in Healthy Living, Youth Development, and Social Responsibility.

Under the direction of the Facilities Director, the Maintenance Handyman will perform carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and other maintenance tasks to maintain the cleanliness, organization, and upkeep of the YMCA facility, properties, and grounds. The role requires sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Prepare vacant residential apartments, including cleaning, carpentry, electrical, tile/grout, sheetrock/painting, and plumbing tasks.
• Maintain landscaping and grounds, including snow removal and application of snowmelt.
• Perform inspections, identify issues, and recommend repairs.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, codes, and policies.
• Manage inventory of supplies and submit requisitions promptly.
• Drive vehicles as required and travel to work sites.
• Perform other assigned tasks.

Hours: This is a part-time, nonexempt position; hours will vary.

Requirements:

A. Experience:

• Previous experience in maintenance, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing.

B. Education/Certification:

• High School Diploma.

C. Skills:

• Proficient in maintenance and repairs, capable of climbing ladders, lifting, reaching, crouching, kneeling, and twisting.
• Attentive to safety and security concerns.
• Ability to follow instructions independently.
• Collaborative with diverse individuals.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions and manuals.
• Knowledge of safe use of maintenance chemicals.
• Friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor.
