Job summary

Journeys In Community Living in Murfreesboro, TN, is seeking a contracted maintenance handyman available Monday–Friday between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM as needed to perform repairs and upkeep of residential homes and equipment.

The role covers plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, fixture installation, safety checks, and routine maintenance. Experience with basic systems and a valid Tennessee driver?s license is preferred, with background clearance required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Proven experience as a handyman or in a related maintenance field.
• General knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
• Proficiency with a variety of hand and power tools.
• Good problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Attention to detail and effective communication skills.
• Valid Tennessee Driver’s License.
• Successful clearance of background check.

Responsibilities

Journeys In Community Living is a nonprofit organization supporting people with disabilities in Murfreesboro. We are seeking a contracted maintenance handyman that is available Monday-Friday between 9 to 5, as needed to perform a variety of repair and maintenance tasks, including fixing plumbing, general electrical, and carpentry issues, painting, and general upkeep of residential homes and equipment. Responsibilities also include conducting assessments, responding to service requests, installing fixtures, and ensuring safety and compliance with regulations. Experience and knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry systems are typically required.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of repairs, such as fixing plumbing, electrical, and HVAC problems.
• Conduct carpentry work, including painting, installing shelves, and repairing doors and windows.
• Maintain and repair appliances.
