Job summary

The U.S. Army at Fort Polk, LA seeks personnel for a general maintenance role. You will assist with interior and exterior repairs, patching walls, painting, grounds upkeep, and basic vehicle transport of materials and people.

Be prepared for varied shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays; this position requires safety and pre-employment checks, a valid driver's license if operating a vehicle, and compliance with Army NAF guidelines.

Qualifications

• Experience in performing duties as described and the ability to follow oral and written instructions involving those duties.
• If the position requires the incumbent to operate a vehicle, the incumbent must have a valid driver's license.
• A copy of a valid drivers license must be uploaded at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the maintenance and repair of building interiors. Patches and paints walls, replaces faucet washers, light bulbs and fuses.
• Assists in the maintenance and repair of building exteriors. Prepares surfaces for painting by applying sealing compounds and primers. Finishes rough edges, smoothing them with file, emery cloth and sandpaper.
• Assists in the maintenance and repair of the grounds. Cuts grass, plants, trims hedges, trees and shrubbery. Dispose of trash.
• Operates a half ton to one ton motor vehicle to transport material and personnel as required.
• Prepare trip tickets, perform driver's daily maintenance and report major repairs to supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned.
