Job summary

State of North Carolina - Department of Transportation is seeking a General Utility Worker (S) to support the New Hanover County Equipment Shop. Responsibilities include yard maintenance, building upkeep, cleaning, and equipment detailing. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in all weather conditions.

Safety toe shoes are required within 30 days of hire. Prior experience with small hand tools and power tools is preferred, and applicants may qualify via education or related experience.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience or education is required or equivalent.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Safety toe shoes required within 30 days of hire.
• Work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform yard maintenance including mowing and trimming.
• Conduct general building maintenance (cleaning, painting, repairs).
• Clean floors, remove trash, wash and detail equipment.
• Retrieve and deliver parts, assist with equipment upkeep.
• Follow supervisor instructions and safety regulations.
