City of Shelby in Shelby, NC is seeking a general Parks Grounds worker to perform park grounds and building maintenance and repair tasks under the supervision of the Grounds Crew Supervisor.
You will clean buildings, mow fields, operate maintenance equipment, and assist with event setups; requires a high school diploma or GED, valid NC driver license, and ability to perform manual labor in varying weather. CPR certification must be obtained within one year of hire.
Performs intermediate manual work performing a variety of park grounds and building maintenance and repair assignments, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Grounds Crew Supervisor.
High school diploma or GED and minimal experience in general building maintenance, grounds keeping, or parks maintenance work, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Obtain CPR certification within one year of hire. Valid driver’s license in the State of North Carolina.
General knowledge of tools, materials, and equipment used in general construction, turf grass, horticulture, and maintenance work; general knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment and ability to use them economically and efficiently; some knowledge of safety precautions applicable to the duties of the class; ability to understand and follow specific oral instructions; ability to read and write; ability to read maps and take measurements; ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions; ability to operate tools and equipment safely; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, contractors, vendors, and the general public.
