Job summary

Otterbein SeniorLife in Ohio is seeking a part-time Maintenance/Grounds Assistant to support painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repairs across the community. The role requires a High School diploma and a valid Ohio driver’s license, with experience in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and vehicle operation.

Duties include grounds upkeep, safety checks, and assisting with resident mobility and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in general maintenance including electrical, plumbing and carpentry.
• HVAC, mower and vehicle experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe and secure environment for residents and visitors.
• Performs general maintenance tasks: repairs, plumbing, electrical, carpentry.
• Assists with moving residents’ furnishings as needed.
• Paints residents' living quarters as required.
• Supports preventative maintenance and equipment operation.
• Assists with groundskeeping, such as mulching and snow removal.
• Maintains maintenance records and safety documentation.
• Operates company equipment and vehicles safely.

Overview

Otterbein has an opening for a Maintenance/Grounds Assistant. The primary responsibility is to support all phases of maintenance and grounds keeping tasks throughout the Otterbein Community. This includes completing assigned jobs related to painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, moving furniture, mechanical and other general repairs. This is a part-time position, primarily Monday-Friday.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains a comfortable, safe and secure environment for the residents, their families, visitors and partners.
• Performs a variety of general maintenance tasks, including general repairs, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.
• Assists with moving of residents’ furnishings as needed.
• Paintsresidents' living quarters as needed.
• Assists with theon-going preventative maintenance program of cleaning, repairing and operating equipment, which minimizes abnormal equipment failure.
• Assists withgrounds keeping, weeding, mulching, and snow-removal.
• Assists with maintaining documentation of fire safety evacuation plan, fire drills, disaster plan, smoking policy, fire alarm testing, fire extinguisher maintenance and testing reports, generator testing logs, water temperatures, flame spread ratings of interior finishes, and other maintenance records.
• Operates company equipment and vehicles in a safe and responsible manner.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required
• Licensure/Certification: Holds a valid Ohio driver’s license
• Experience: General Maintenance - Electrical, Plumbing and Carpentry Experience, Mechanical Experience on H.V.A.C., Mowers and Vehicles.
