Job summary

Otterbein SeniorLife in Ohio is seeking a part-time Maintenance/Grounds Assistant to support all phases of maintenance and grounds keeping across the community, including painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and moving furniture.

The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a valid Ohio driver’s license, with preference for HVAC, general maintenance and vehicle operation. Work is primarily Monday–Friday, with benefits dependent on hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Holds a valid Ohio driver’s license.
• General maintenance experience in electrical, plumbing and carpentry; HVAC, mowers and vehicles preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe environment for residents, families, visitors and partners.
• Performs general maintenance tasks: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.
• Assists with moving residents’ furnishings as needed.
• Paints living quarters as needed.
• Supports ongoing preventive maintenance of equipment and safety plans.
• Assists with grounds keeping, including snow removal.
• Maintains maintenance records and safety documentation.
• Operates company equipment and vehicles safely.

Overview

Otterbein has an opening for a Maintenance/Grounds Assistant. The primary responsibility is to support all phases of maintenance and grounds keeping tasks throughout the Otterbein Community. This includes completing assigned jobs related to painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, moving furniture, mechanical and other general repairs. This is a part-time position, primarily Monday-Friday.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintains a comfortable, safe and secure environment for the residents, their families, visitors and partners.
• Performs a variety of general maintenance tasks, including general repairs, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.
• Assists with moving of residents’ furnishings as needed.
• Paints residents' living quarters as needed.
• Assists with the on-going preventative maintenance program of cleaning, repairing and operating equipment, which minimizes abnormal equipment failure.
• Assists with grounds keeping, weeding, mulching, and snow-removal.
• Assists with maintaining documentation of fire safety evacuation plan, fire drills, disaster plan, smoking policy, fire alarm testing, fire extinguisher maintenance and testing reports, generator testing logs, water temperatures, flame spread ratings of interior finishes, and other maintenance records.
• Operates company equipment and vehicles in a safe and responsible manner.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required
• Licensure/Certification: Holds a valid Ohio driver’s license
• Experience: General Maintenance - Electrical, Plumbing and Carpentry Experience, Mechanical Experience on H.V.A.C., Mowers and Vehicles.
