Job summary

Tyson Foods, Inc. seeks an experienced maintenance technician to troubleshoot, repair and maintain equipment across the feed mill. The role requires handling heavy lifting, welding and fabrication, data entry on handheld systems, and collaboration with contractors while upholding safety standards.

The candidate should have 3–5 years industrial experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and be willing to obtain PIT certification. Facility is in Mississippi; shift includes weekend hours.

Qualifications

  • Six (6) months operator experience with one employer in the previous 12-months.
  • Three to five years related experience with at least three years in an industrial setting/relevant work experience.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent; Technical or Vocational Diploma preferred, or combination of equivalent experience and education in lieu of a Diploma.
  • Must be able to obtain powered industrial truck (PIT) certification.
  • Applicant must reside in a 30-mile radius of the facility.
  • Must be able to read and write to follow Tyson preventive maintenance program.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets.
  • Work in a dusty, cold, damp or hot and humid environment; follow safety policies.
  • Enter data into handheld computer system and operate basic hand and power tools.
  • Fabricate by welding and cutting; work with contractors to ensure proper equipment use.
  • Train to properly set up, operate, and shut down equipment; pass performance evaluations.

Job Details

Work Hours: Tuesday - Friday 8 am to 6 pm and Saturday 8 am to 12 pm; $20.05/hr./Weekend and holiday work require This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. This position could work in any department of the feed mill. Standing, walking, bending, stretching, twisting, climbing, pushing and pulling up to 300lb buggies, and reaching are required in all areas. Lifting is required in many areas (weight depends upon area). Working on elevated surfaces is required in some areas. This position works in a dusty, cold, damp or hot and humid environment and these areas have slippery walking surfaces. Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing. Must possess basic math and computer skills. Must enter data into handheld computer system. Must be able to use basic hand tools, operate power tools and all automated equipment, saws, sheet metal shears, drills, grinders and ladders as needed. Must be able to obtain powered industrial truck certification (PIT).In addition, this position requires working with specialized equipment and observing the use of said equipment. Must be able to keep machines maintained and clean. Must be able to work alongside contractors in order to ensure that our equipment is being properly utilized. Must go through training through to properly set up, operate, and shut down equipment. The person in this position will have their performance evaluated by Tyson and vendor to ensure that the machines are being operated properly. The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation. Applicant must reside in a 30-mile radius of the facility. Days and hours may vary. Must have the ability to fabricate by welding and cutting. Must be able to read and write in order to follow Tyson preventive maintenance program. must not own, possess, or otherwise maintain any domestic, wild or exotic fowl to be considered.
