Job summary

Norwest Christian College is seeking a full-time Maintenance General Assistant to ensure the campus is safe, well presented, and facilities are up to date. The role involves maintenance across buildings and grounds, plus driving the school bus for various activities and events.

You will perform inspections, manage tools and logs, and assist with AV setups for learning spaces. A faith-based, collaborative team environment is emphasized.

The College is currently seeking to appoint an experienced and highly motivated full-time Maintenance Assistant. This position will be part of a small, highly efficient team, that ensures that the College campus is safe and well presented, and maintains and updates College facilities to meet the needs of our growing community.

Your Role

• Perform general maintenance, repairs, and minor improvements across school buildings, grounds, and facilities.
• Drive the school bus for student transport, excursions, and events, ensuring safe and responsible operation.
• Conduct routine inspections across the campus and buses to identify safety hazards, maintenance needs, and compliance issues.
• Manage and maintain school equipment, tools, storage areas, and maintenance logs.
• Support school operations by setting up classrooms, events, furniture, and equipment as required.
• Coordinate with external contractors and staff to ensure timely and effective completion of works.
• Assist with College AV requirements, including setup and troubleshooting for events and learning spaces.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate at interview a personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and a lifestyle consistent with that faith, including an active commitment to a Christian fellowship, as well as the following skills and experience:

• Attention to detail and capacity to handle multiple tasks and activities in parallel
• Willingness to learn and develop skills
• Experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential
• Landscaping/trade experience (desirable, but not essential).
• Bus drivers licence preferred or willing to be trained.
