Performing routine maintenance and repairs-whether it's for equipment, buildings, or outdoor spaces-can offer a sense of accomplishment and contribute to the overall functionality and safety of a property. Tasks like maintaining the landscape, handling minor electrical repairs, or ensuring safety equipment is cleaned also play a vital role in keeping everything in top shape. Plus, keeping the parking lots and sidewalks salted in winter can be a rewarding task, especially when it ensures safety for everyone.

The work involves routine maintenance and repair of various facilities, including equipment, buildings, grounds, parking lots, landscape, and flower beds. Tasks include trimming trees, shrubs, and weeds, as well as removing trash. The role also requires performing minor repairs, such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and painting work. In addition, you may be required to assemble, install, and move furniture as needed, while ensuring that rooms are properly set up for classes and special events. Rekeying locks and repairing door hardware are also part of the responsibilities, along with performing carpet repairs. The job may involve some parking lot repairs, salting of parking lots and sidewalks, and unloading or loading delivery trucks. Employees are expected to complete annual forklift training when applicable. Work should be performed according to standard procedures and in line with the building's operational schedule. Maintaining clear communication with management about deficiencies or defective areas within the work area is important, and periodic reviews of job performance with the immediate supervisor are expected.

The ideal candidate is required to hold a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), along with a valid State of Michigan driver's license. The candidate must have at least two years of maintenance experience and possess knowledge of operating tools and equipment. Some evenings and weekends on-call duties are required. Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Google Apps and the Facilities Management System, are necessary for the role. Additionally, the ability to work outside in various weather conditions is essential. A strong proficiency in computer skills is also important to effectively use computer-related technology. This position will be second shift hours.
