Job summary

Mitolo Family Farms is seeking a Maintenance Fitter to join our Penfield packing facility. You will perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and support installation and commissioning of new equipment. The role requires welding skills (MIG/TIG/Stick) and CMMS usage, with weekend work and a shifted schedule.

Qualifications

• Relevant trade qualifications for maintenance technician.
• Experience in a food production environment is highly desirable.
• Strong fabrication skills (MIG, TIG, and Stick welding).
• Experience in hydraulics and pneumatics; CMMS experience (MEX or similar).
• Solid understanding of Lean principles.
• Capacity to work in WHS compliant environment.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities and proactive teamwork.
• Extensive fault-finding and rapid breakdown response.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and servicing of all equipment to ensure smooth production operations.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to resolve issues efficiently.
• Assist in installation, modification, and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards, quality control, and industry regulations during maintenance.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities using MEX or similar CMMS.
• Perform welding, fabrication, and machining tasks as required (MIG/TIG/Stick).
• Monitor and maintain spare parts inventory for critical components.
• Contribute to Lean initiatives and continuous improvement.

Job description

Are you a highly motivated individual wanting to join a fast-paced environment? Join our team as a Maintenance Fitter, located are our packing facility in Penfield, SA.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will play a pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation and optimal performance of all equipment within the processing facility. The role involves executing the site’s preventative maintenance programs and promptly addressing breakdowns, leveraging your technical expertise and problem-solving abilities to swiftly diagnose and resolve issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.

You will ideally have experience gained in an FMCG environment.

Your hours of work will be Monday - Friday day shift 3pm -11pm. (Please note that for the first two weeks you must be available to work 7am to 3pm for induction purposes).

You will be required to undertake some weekend work from time to time.

Key Responsibilities

You will perform routine maintenance, repairs, and servicing of all equipment to ensure smooth production operations. In addition you will:

• Conduct preventative maintenance and inspections in accordance with established schedules to minimise downtime
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to resolve issues efficiently
• Assist in the installation, modification, and commissioning of new machinery and equipment
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards, quality control, and industry regulations during all maintenance activities
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and replacements, using MEX or similar systems
• Perform welding, fabrication, and machining tasks as required (e.g., MIG, TIG, and Stick welding)
• Monitor and maintain spare parts inventory to ensure critical components are readily available
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including the implementation of Lean practices

What We Are Looking For

• Relevant trade qualifications
• Prior experience in a food production environment is highly desirable.
• Strong fabrication skills (MIG, TIG, and Stick welding)
• Experience in hydraulics and pneumatics Previous experience using MEX, or similar CMMS
• Solid understanding of Lean principles
• Capacity to work in strict compliance with WHS guidelines
• Strong troubleshooting abilities with a proactive approach to teamwork
