Job summary

Greenstone Meats in Oldmans Township, New Jersey, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance on production and packaging equipment, and support safe, efficient operations. You will collaborate with the Maintenance Team, QA Team, and Plant Manager to minimize downtime while servicing equipment in accordance with safety and predictive maintenance programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; mechanical trades strongly preferred.
  • Experience as a production or industrial mechanic in food packaging.
  • Electrical troubleshooting across multiple voltages and reading electrical prints.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong written and oral communication abilities.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Performs mechanical and preventative maintenance on production and packaging equipment.
  • Maintains records of repairs and parts inventory.
  • Assists with setup and movement of equipment during change-overs or expansion.
  • Maintains tools and shop in a safe, clean, organized manner.
  • Provides emergency and scheduled maintenance repairs.
  • Reads and interprets manuals and work orders for maintenance.
  • Diagnoses problems, replaces parts, tests, and makes adjustments.
  • Performs general plumbing, electrical and carpentry as needed to support maintenance.

Reports To: Maintenance & Reliability Supervisor

Summary

The Maintenance Technician assistswith preventative maintenance on all production and packaging equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Works with Maintenance Team, QA Team, and Plant Manager to ensure facility and equipment are serviced and available with least amount of downtime. Responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repairandmaintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenancesystemsand processes to support the achievement of the site's business goals andobjectives.

Job Duties
  • Performs mechanical and preventative maintenance work on all production and packaging equipment as per preventative maintenance manuals.
  • Maintains records of repairs, parts inventory, modifications of equipment,programsor settings.
  • Assistswith setup and/or movement of equipment duringchange-oversor expansion.
  • Maintains tools and maintenanceshopin a safe,cleanand organized manner.
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of equipment.
  • Performsmechanicjobs including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of machines.
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, tests andmakes adjustments.
  • Performs a variety of general plumbing maintenance, electrical and carpentry functions as needed to supportmaintenancedepartment within parameters of skills and training.
  • Uses a variety of hand and power tools, electricmetersand material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Complies withsafety regulations andmaintainsclean and orderly work areas.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED, completion ofa mechanicaltradestronglypreferred.
  • Experience as a production or industrial mechanic technician, preferablymaintaininghigh-speed packaging and processing equipment within the food industry.
  • Electrical troubleshooting knowledge on multiple voltages and can read electrical prints.
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently and as a team player.
  • Ability tocomprehendand communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task andestablishpriorities.
  • Ability to maintain organization of maintenance schedule and files in a changing environment.
  • Exhibit initiative, responsibility,flexibilityand leadership.
  • Knowledge of local,provincialand federal workplace compliance regulations,ordinancesand legislation.
  • Strong communicationandproblem solvingskills.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.

Work Conditions / Physical Demands
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Work is performed in a combination of environments, includingmeatproduction roomwithtemperatures of -1 to +4 degrees Celsius.
  • Safety equipment isrequired, e.g., steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, hearing protection, etc.
  • Repetitive tasks within a fast-paced environment
  • Pay: $30.00 per hour
  • Shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Overtime is required as needed, including Saturdays when necessary.
