Job summary

NW People Group Pty Ltd, based in Thornton, is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to ensure continuous operation and reliable plant equipment. The role covers reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, timely repairs and contributing to preventative maintenance, with day shift initially and transition to afternoon shift.

You will work with production staff and maintenance teams, read technical drawings, and uphold safety protocols while building a stable career in a large manufacturing business.

Qualifications

• Accredited trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter.
• Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
• Excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Capable of working independently and in a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to start on day shift and transition to afternoon shift.

Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechanical Fitter to join their dynamic team. Please note, this position will initially commence as a day-shift role before transitioning into a regular afternoon shift.

Position Overview

You will play a crucial role in ensuring the continuous operation and reliability of plant and equipment. Your expertise will be key in performing reactive maintenance, diagnosing breakdowns, conducting timely repairs, and contributing to preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.

• Troubleshoot, diagnose faults, and perform repairs on machinery to ensure optimal performance.

Requirements

• Accredited trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or equivalent.
• Proven experience working as a Fitter within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of complex production machinery, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
• Capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility and willingness to commence on day shift and subsequently transition to an afternoon shift schedule.
