Job summary

Allegion is seeking a hands-on engineer/technician to support maintenance and production teams in troubleshooting, programing, and upgrading robotics, CNC and related equipment. You will contribute to process optimization, documentation, and equipment installations across manufacturing lines.

Ideal candidates have two years of technical training with strong PLC/robotics experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in teams and with cross-functional groups.

Qualifications

  • Two years of technical schooling or college toward a Bachelor of Science, or equivalent technical training.
  • Background in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair major technical issues with maintenance teams.
  • Program, install, commission, troubleshoot and service robotic systems, CNC systems and peripheral equipment.
  • Support design, testing, and upgrade of production processes and equipment.

What you will do
  • Assist Maintenance with troubleshooting and repair of major technical issues.
  • Apply analytical and technical skills to aid in problem solving and optimizing processes in machining, assembly, pack and freight processes.
  • Program, installation, commission, troubleshoot, repair and service robotic systems, CNC systems, and peripheral equipment according to SOPs and quality guidelines.
  • Assist Engineers with designing, running, testing and upgrading existing and new production processes
  • Assist with new equipment installations, including programming of machines where needed.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining all process documentation (i.e. routings, standard work, work instructions, setup sheets, time studies etc.) to ensure accuracy.
  • Analyze proposed changes for manufacturing impact and feasibility and provide feedback to management
  • Manage multiple projects / assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Partners with all functional groups (maintenance, operations, quality, materials, purchasing, accounting, etc.) to create a successful work environment that thrives on collaboration, process creation and adherence
  • Attend training opportunities deemed necessary by management
  • Follow Safety procedures, participate in risk assessments, trainings, and adhere to regulatory and quality standards.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and management to ensure a courteous and prompt exchange of information.
What you need to succeed
Required Skills
  • Foundational knowledge in science or engineering, typically gained through two years of technical school, two years of college toward a Bachelor of Science, or equivalent technical training (e.g., military or trade school). A background in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong CNC, PLC, robotics, automation, and controls experience.
  • Strong critical thinking skills including using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and in independent situations, while maintaining strong work relationships
  • Solid written and verbal communication as well as conflict resolution skills
  • Organized and attentive to detail
  • Desire to work hands on with projects and equipment
  • Ability to assess risks/issues and make decisions, acting with a sense of urgency
  • Effective listening, time management and creative problem-solving techniques
  • Ability to read, interpret, and perform from various documents, including method sheets, assembly drawings, production reports, safety rules, blueprints, printed shop schedules, Kanban cards/boards, operating maintenance instruction and procedure manuals, etc.
Preferred Skills:
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (excel, project, word, power point)
  • Knowledge/Experience with Keyence, Yaskawa, ABB, Allen Bradley, Fanuc, Murata, or Hurco.
  • Knowledge of Preventative maintenance programs and basic industrial networking concepts.
