Job summary

La Bahia Hotel & Spa is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to ensure flawless operation of all hotel systems, from climate controls to elevators, while preserving luxury aesthetics. You will collaborate with housekeeping and F&B on maintenance schedules and uphold Forbes-inspired service standards on the beachfront property.

The role requires 2–3 years of hotel maintenance experience, strong HVAC and kitchen equipment knowledge, and the ability to work overnight shifts when needed.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of hotel/maintenance engineering experience, luxury hotel or resort preferred.
  • Must speak and communicate in English.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and kneel for long periods.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair commercial kitchen equipment including ranges, ovens, fryers, refrigeration units, dishwashers, and ventilation hoods.
  • Perform routine and emergency HVAC servicing, including filter changes, coil cleaning, refrigerant checks, and system diagnostics.
  • Respond promptly to guest room maintenance requests with minimal disruption.
  • Maintain all building systems to luxury hotel standards (BMS, fire systems, elevators).
  • Conduct water chemical testing and treatment for pools/spa facilities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair high‑end guest room amenities (smart systems, lighting controls).
  • Execute delicate repairs on premium surfaces (marble, fine wood, specialty finishes).
  • Maintain proper operation of all door hardware, locks, and security systems.

The Engineer is a professional who enjoys problem‑solving and is detail‑oriented. This role ensures the property's flawless functioning, making certain all systems from climate controls to elevators, from plumbing to lighting, operate seamlessly while maintaining the aesthetic integrity of our hotel. By delivering impeccable service, the Engineer will uphold La Bahia Hotel & Spa's service standards (inspired by Forbes) while elevating our beachfront property.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair commercial kitchen equipment, including ranges, ovens, fryers, refrigeration units, dishwashers, and ventilation hoods
  • Perform routine and emergency HVAC servicing, including filter changes, coil cleaning, refrigerant checks, and system diagnostics
  • Respond promptly to guest room maintenance requests with minimal disruption
  • Maintain all building systems to luxury hotel standards (BMS, fire systems, elevators)
  • Conduct water chemical testing and treatment for pools/spa facilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair high‑end guest room amenities (smart systems, lighting controls)
  • Execute delicate repairs on premium surfaces (marble, fine wood, specialty finishes)
  • Maintain proper operation of all door hardware, locks, and security systems
  • Ensure silent operation of all mechanical equipment in guest areas
  • Preserve architectural details during all maintenance activities
  • Respond to engineering service requests with discretion and urgency
  • Work overnight shifts to complete disruptive maintenance invisibly
  • Collaborate with housekeeping on room preventative maintenance programs
  • Coordinate with Food & Beverage on kitchen equipment maintenance schedules to minimize operational disruption
  • Ensure all work meets luxury brand standards and safety regulations
  • Maintain proper documentation of maintenance activities
  • Participate in emergency preparedness programs
  • Adhere to all OSHA and local safety requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2–3 years of hotel/maintenance engineering experience, with luxury hotel or resort strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with commercial HVAC systems, including diagnosis, repair, and preventative maintenance
  • Demonstrated experience with commercial kitchen equipment repair and maintenance
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized and non‑standardized situations
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
  • Good interpersonal skills required
  • Must speak and communicate in English
  • Must have a desire for learning and personal growth
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and kneel for long periods of time
  • CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certification preferred
  • EPA 608 certification or equivalent HVAC certification preferred
  • Certifications in electrical systems a plus
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Must provide valid document(s) to work in the US
