Job summary

Daimler Truck North America in Detroit, MI, is seeking an engineer to provide hands-on maintenance and manufacturing support for engine, axle, and drivetrain assembly lines. You will partner with production leaders, troubleshoot issues, and drive improvements across the shop floor.

Ideal candidates have a mechanical engineering background with 1+ years in manufacturing or maintenance environments, strong interpretation of drawings/BOMs, and the ability to work weekends as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, maintenance engineering, manufacturing engineering, production support, equipment support, or related technical environments.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, bills of material, or technical documentation.
  • Ability to occasionally work weekends to support production.
  • An attached resume is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide maintenance engineering support for engine assembly, axle and transmission areas as required.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment, tooling, and process issues to minimize downtime.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures for existing and new equipment.
  • Review station-level drawings and BOMs to maintain spare parts strategies.
  • Support product changes and process improvements, including tooling development and implementation.
  • Design and refine assembly methods to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Coordinate equipment procurement with vendors and internal teams.
  • Support equipment validation and certification (gages, torque tools, etc.).
  • Collaborate with skilled trades and maintenance teams as a technical resource.
