Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to provide direct support for engine assembly and related drivetrain processes in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing setting. You will work closely with production leadership, skilled trades, and operators to ensure equipment performance, process stability, and adherence to standard work and targets.

You will troubleshoot issues, develop preventive maintenance procedures, review drawings and BOMs, and contribute to tooling

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field.
• 1+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, maintenance engineering, or related technical environments.
• Experience interpreting engineering drawings or BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance engineering support for engine assembly processes, with additional support for axle and transmission areas as required.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment, tooling, and process issues to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures for existing and new equipment.
• Review station-level drawings and BOMs to recommend and maintain spare parts strategies.
• Support product changes and process improvements, including tooling development and implementation.
• Design and refine assembly methods and processes to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.

Inside the Role

Kickstart your engineering career in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment! This role provides direct manufacturing and maintenance engineering support for engine assembly operations, as well as axle and drivetrain assembly processes as needed. The position blends hands‑on production support with project‑based engineering work, enabling continuous improvement and reliable operations across the assembly environment. You will partner closely with production leadership, skilled trades, and operators to ensure equipment performance, process stability, and adherence to standard work and production targets.

Position offers a starting salary range of $67,000 – $86,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, andexperience.

What You Drive at DTNA

• Provide maintenance engineering support for engine assembly processes, with additional support for axle and transmission areas as required
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment, tooling, and process issues to minimize downtime and maintain production flow
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance (PM) procedures for existing and new equipment
• Review station‑level drawings and bills of material (BOMs) to recommend and maintain spare parts strategies
• Support product changes and process improvements, including tooling development and implementation
• Design and refine assembly methods and processes to improve safety, quality, and efficiency
• Coordinate equipment procurement, working with vendors and internal purchasing teams
• Support equipment validation and certification (e.g., gages, torque tools, leak testers)
• Collaborate with and occasionally provide direction to skilled trades and maintenance teams
• Serve as a technical resource for production supervisors and operators
• Monitor and incorporate emerging technologies and best practices into manufacturing processes
• Participate in a shared weekend production support rotation

Knowledge You Should Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field
• 1+ years of hands‑on experience in manufacturing, maintenance engineering, manufacturing engineering, production support, equipment support, or related technical environments. Internship, co‑op, apprenticeship, military, project or professional experience may be considered.
• Experience interpreting engineering drawings, bills of material, or technical documentation
• Ability to occasionally work weekends to support production
• An attached resume is required

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

• Prior manufacturing experience through internships, co‑ops, apprenticeships, military service, academic projects, or professional employment
• Experience leveraging AI tools and technologies to improve productivity, efficiency, or business outcomes
