Description:

IBSS Corporation is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer 2 to provide systems engineering and technical support services on the Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS) Service Life Extension Program (SLEP). The selected candidate will play a critical role in supporting the deployment and modernization of surface observation systems used across the United States for aviation and meteorological operations.

This role requires hands-on engineering support at various project phases—from production through deployment—as well as collaboration with program staff, technical contractors, and Government stakeholders to ensure the ASOS SLEP goals are met with high reliability and technical accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Engineering Services for multiple ASOS projects, ensuring alignment with modernization efforts.
  • Assist the government in the creation, modification, and execution of measurable, testable and traceable Requirements Documentation.
  • Update Site Technical Manual Chapters for various ASOS component integrations.
  • Support the generation, editing, of Modification and Maintenance Notes for the implementation of system baseline changes to the ASOS functional and system baselines.
  • Create modification & maintenance notes associated with modifying the Legacy Temperature Relative Humidity (TRH) solution for ASOS 2.0 adoption (Remove fiber optics; Convert to RS485).
  • Engineer a solution for the insect ingest problem for the aspirated shield.
  • Create requirements for ASOS 2.0 incorporation of the All Weather Precipitation Accumulation Gauge (AWPAG).
  • Create modification & maintenance notes associated with incorporation into ASOS baseline.
  • Compile, Review, and Deliver comprehensive technical data package incorporating vendor data and documentation.
  • Create and execute Requests for Change (RCs) for the ASOS baseline.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related field. Master's Degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering/development
  • Proven experience in system engineering and government production/deployment environments
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess technical alternatives and risks
  • Familiarity with hardware verification testing procedures and standards
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a multi-stakeholder environment
