Job summary

Essentia Virginia Hospital seeks a Maintenance Technician to perform general maintenance across medical campus systems, including boilers, HVAC, and life-safety equipment. You will work under rotating Day/Eve/Night shifts, with on-site duties in Virginia.

The role requires a 2-year vocational program or apprenticeship, or equivalent experience, plus a boiler license as appropriate or obtainable within 18 months. Driving eligibility for insurer is required.

Qualifications

• Provides routine and preventative maintenance on hospital systems such as boilers, HVAC, fire safety, generators and patient care equipment.
• Position may provide general work direction within license scope to assigned team members.
• Two-year vocational school or apprenticeship or equivalent for boiler operation.
• Three years of maintenance experience and a boiler license or higher certification within defined timelines.
• Must meet driving requirements acceptable to Essentia Health's insurer.

Job Description:

Responsible for general maintenance in a medical specialty campus.

Education Qualifications:

Provides routine and preventative maintenance including inspection, maintenance, and complex repairs on various systems such as pressure boilers, basic HVAC systems, fire safety systems, emergency generators, and patient care equipment. May provide emergency repairs and perform additional duties as assigned.

Position may provide general work direction, within the scope of their license, to assigned team members.

Licensure/CertificationQualifications:

Minimum of a 2 year vocational school or a 2-year apprenticeship program or the equivalent

OR

3 years of experience in a maintenance role

Current Class "Special" Boilers License or ability to obtain within 6 months as required by the facility or holds a higher certification (such as 2nd Class B or C, 1st class license or chief A, B or C boiler operator’s license license) or higher (such as 1st class license or chief A, B or C license) within 18 months of hire or transfer.

Must meet the driving requirements and criteria acceptable to Essentia Health's insurer.
