Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and skilled maintenance, repairs, and improvements to district buildings, facilities, equipment, and grounds.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and related systems.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance and inspections to extend facility life.
  • Responds promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies to keep facilities safe.
  • Assists with installation, replacement, and repair of equipment, fixtures, doors, and plumbing/electrical components.
  • Receives and executes work orders from the Director of Maintenance.

Job Description

Anderson School District 3 is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to serve and support the buildings and facilities within our Operations Department. This individual will play a vital role in ensuring our schools and facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained in support of student learning and district operations.

Job Summary

The role of the Maintenance Engineer is to help ensure district buildings, facilities, and equipment remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. This position performs skilled maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance across a variety of building systems while responding to the day-to-day needs of schools and district facilities. The Maintenance Engineer works closely with the Director of Maintenance and other maintenance staff to provide timely, dependable, and friendly service throughout the district.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • General knowledge or a willingness to learn of the operation and maintenance of a school facility.
  • Ability to follow directions with a minimal amount of supervision.
  • General knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance practices.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to successfully pass all required criminal background checks and pre-employment screenings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and licensing as a certified electrician.
  • Experience in K12 school facilities, higher education, government, or other institutional settings.
Key Responsibilities
  • Performs routine and skilled maintenance, repairs, and improvements to district buildings, facilities, equipment, and grounds.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs building systems, including, but not limited to, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and other facility-related systems.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance and routine inspections to identify potential problems and help extend the life of district facilities and equipment.
  • Responds promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations to help ensure school and district facilities remain safe and operational.
  • Assists with the installation, replacement, and repair of equipment, fixtures, doors, hardware, plumbing components, electrical components, and other building systems.
  • Receives and executes work orders provided by the Director of Maintenance.
  • Follows all district safety procedures and applicable codes and regulations while maintaining a clean and safe work environment and properly caring for district tools, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Promotes safe work practices by ensuring employees receive appropriate training, maintain required certifications, and follow established safety procedures.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, Director of Maintenance or designee.
