Job summary

Coweta Public Schools is seeking a Maintenance worker to perform routine service and repair of district-owned equipment and buildings. You will follow the district's preventative maintenance schedule and assist with daily maintenance tasks as directed by the Director of Maintenance.

The position is 12 months, up to 4 hours per day, and requires a High School Diploma or GED, physical ability to perform lifting and bending, and the safe handling of tools under supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent.
• Must be able to stand/walk for 8 hours.
• Frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling; occasional squatting/crouching.

Responsibilities

• Follow the district's preventative maintenance and routine service schedule to prolong the life of all district-owned equipment.
• Perform routine service and repair of all district-owned equipment and buildings.
• Attend to daily maintenance problems reported to the Superintendent's office, according to the maintenance director's schedule.
• Notify the maintenance director immediately of any conditions endangering health, safety, or welfare of students or staff.
• Practice safety at all times, especially around students.
• Performs any other duties assigned by the supervisor or Superintendent.

A High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent experience. Must be able to stand/walk for 8 hours. Job requires frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and occasional squatting/crouching. Must be able to kneel, climb and reach above the shoulders. Job requires frequent carrying/lifting up to 24 pounds, occasionally up to 75 pounds. Must be able to move furniture or machines or carry boxes of books up to 100 pounds. Must poses manual dexterity sufficient to operate tools as needed. Superintendent may approve appropriate and acceptable alternatives to the listed qualifications.

• Follow the district's preventative maintenance and routine service schedule to prolong the life of all district-owned equipment.
• Perform routine service and repair of all district-owned equipment and buildings.
• Attend to the daily maintenance problems that are reported to the Superintendent's office, according to the maintenance director's schedule.
• Notify the maintenance director immediately of any conditions of buildings, grounds, or equipment of the district that may endanger the health, safety, or welfare of students or staff.
• Practice safety at all times, but especially when working around students, keeping classroom interruptions to a minimum.
• Performs any other duties assigned by the supervisor or Superintendent.
