Job summary

Healthcare Realty is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer for on-site work at medical office buildings in Summerville, Mount Pleasant, and North Charleston, SC. The role requires strong facilities maintenance background and familiarity with building automation, electrical systems, and HVAC/life-safety systems.

Candidates should be able to read blueprints, lift up to 50 pounds, and be willing to on-call about every three weeks with travel within a 30-mile radius of the Charleston area.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of facilities maintenance experience.
• Thorough understanding of BAS, electrical systems, controls, boilers, rooftop HVAC, VAV, chemical treatment, emergency generation, plumbing, transfer switches and life safety systems.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret technical drawings.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; use of work order systems and email on PC/phone.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and building upkeep; provide timely emergency and preventive maintenance.
• Complete maintenance and repair records and work orders promptly.
• Keep organized records and communicate effectively with team; read blueprints as needed.
• Be self-sufficient, team player, and adaptable; able to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders.
• On-call approximately every three weeks; travel within 30 miles of Charleston and Berkeley County.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Minimum of Five (5) years' experience in facilities maintenance with thorough understanding of Building Automation Systems, electrical systems, controls, condensing boilers, package rooftop HVAC, variable air volume systems, chemical treatment, emergency generation equipment, plumbing, transfer switches and life safety systems.
• Performs assigned repairs; building upkeep duties as needed (periodic pressure washing and leaf blowing as needed); emergency and preventive maintenance in a timely manner. Completes maintenance and repair records as required. Completes assigned work orders in a timely manner.
• Basic skills with Microsoft Office. Uses personal computer and smart phone for work order system and email.
• Position requires excellent organization, verbal, written and multi-tasking skills. Must be able to read blueprints.
• Takes ownership of work, is flexible, and focuses on creating a positive and welcoming impression.
• Must be self-sufficient, team player.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders.
• On-call approximately every three weeks, travel to buildings within 30 miles in Charleston and Berkeley County area.
