Job summary

Commercial Metals Company is seeking a results-driven professional to optimize shop performance and drive continuous improvement across milling operations. You will monitor process parameters, analyze deviations, and lead corrective actions with QA, Training, and operations teams.

The role requires a technical degree and strong communication skills, with hands-on shop involvement and flexibility in scheduling. This is a growth-focused opportunity within a Fortune 500 manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in metallurgy, chemical or mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; negotiation skills.
  • Highly technical, detail oriented, organized, self-starter.
  • Willingness to work hands-on in the shop on flexible schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor shop performance and processes daily within established parameters.
  • Determine causes for deviation and recommend corrections.
  • Provide reporting daily, weekly and monthly to document mill performance against KPIs.
  • Investigate and recommend process, procedure, training or equipment needs for improvement.
  • Collaborate with QA to monitor product quality and correct deviations.
  • Coordinate with Training to develop operator development classes.
  • Interact with external resources for process performance and improvement.
  • Initiate communication with suppliers and contractors for improvements.

What You'll Do
  • Monitor shop performance and processes daily for operation within established parameters
  • Determine causes for deviation and recommend corrections
  • Provide reporting daily, weekly and monthly to document Mill performance against established key performance indicators
  • Investigate and recommend process, procedure, training or equipment needs to continually improve performance
  • Work with department and shift managers to optimize personnel and process execution for consistent performance and continuous process improvement
  • Work with Quality Assurance Department to monitor product quality and identify and correct any deviations
  • Work with Training Department to develop and assist teaching operator development classes
  • Interact with company personnel resources external to plant about process performance and improvement
  • Initiate communication with resources external to company (suppliers and contractors) for consistency and improvement initiatives
What You'll Need
  • Basic knowledge of the rolling process preferred
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal
  • Highly technical, detail oriented, organized and self-starter
  • Willingness and ability to work hands-on in the shop with operators on flexible schedules
Your Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required.
