Job summary

PEG Company is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to oversee engineering and maintenance operations within the hotel, ensuring facilities comply with operating standards and equipment remains in good repair. You will provide day-to-day maintenance support to the hotel and assist in improving service to guests and colleagues.

Responsibilities include routine and preventative maintenance in guest rooms and public areas, responding to maintenance calls, prioritizing breakdowns, testing and repairing

Qualifications

  • Experience in hotel or commercial building maintenance with ability to perform routine and preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to work varied schedules to address property emergencies.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with departments.

  • Prioritize maintenance issues (e.g., plant and machinery) and address safely.
  • Perform basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain tools and equipment and ensure a clean work area.
  • Coordinate with departments and update work orders using the PMS or other software.

Description

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the engineering and maintenance operations within the?hotel, including general property maintenance, are working properly and up to the hotel's operating standards. They will also keep all equipment in good repair and providing day-to-day maintenance support to the hotel. Additionally, work towards and support the improvement of engineering service to?guests, other departments and co-workers.

  • Perform day-to-day routine and preventative maintenance within the hotel rooms and?public areas.
  • Respond promptly and efficiently to any maintenance calls that arise either from the guest or other departments.
  • Respond courteously and promptly to?guest requests?and resolve matters to the guest’s satisfaction.
  • Ability to prioritize the maintenance issues e.g.: to attend the breakdown of plant and machinery on priority.
  • Perform maintenance activities in the guest rooms and public areas including minor electrical equipment, plumbing and air conditioning.
  • Monitor?fire?Alarm / Life?Safety?System systems as necessary, to be fully informed of the system operation and how to handle?emergencies?involving the systems.
  • Understand and operate electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and water systems. Be able to test, troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on systems.
  • Communicate?with different departments and provide them with information and assistance.
  • Check for and assign new maintenance requests, inspect work when complete and release room back to service using hotel PMS or other software.
  • Perform preventative maintenance in guest rooms and common areas as scheduled to ensure all equipment is maintained to the required standard.
  • Maintain all tools, equipment, and working areas in good condition.
  • Train and instruct other members of the staff through sharing knowledge and skills.
  • Perform general maintenance and upkeep of the exterior of the facility to ensure it is inviting and welcoming to guests.
  • Adhere to all property safety protocols and OSHA Safety Standards.
  • Maintain professionalism with coworkers and residents while working in and around the community.?
  • Other duties may be assigned by management

Requirements

Requirements:
  • Experience in general trades such as light plumbing, minor electrical, painting, drywall, and general repairs.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule as necessary to address any property emergencies
  • Certified Pool Operator certification is desired
  • Basic computing and MS office knowledge to complete workorders and maintain expense reporting and maintenance logs.
  • Written and verbal skills needed to complete job responsibilities
  • 1-2 years' experience in a hotel, multi-unit residential or commercial building environment
Physical Requirements:
  • Must tolerate prolonged periods of standing, walking; occasional kneeling, bending, stooping, and climbing stairs or ladders.
  • Some locations may require the ability to work in inclement weather conditions. e.g. clearing snow & ice or working outdoors in extreme heat.
  • Must tolerate exposure to cleaning solutions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds as needed.
