$80k - $100k
Position Overview:
The Maintenance Engineer plays a key role in maximizing plant efficiency by optimizing utilities and minimizing downtime across all production units. This position is responsible for identifying and resolving maintenance challenges, implementing reliability-focused maintenance strategies, overseeing improvement projects, and driving continuous process improvements to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
Responsibilities of the Maintenance Engineer:
- Oversee the operation and performance of facility utility systems, including steam, boiler, water, and compressed air infrastructure, while tracking and reporting monthly utility usage and performance metrics.
- Drive equipment reliability and asset performance improvements through proactive maintenance strategies and process enhancements.
- Collaborate with production teams to improve operational efficiency, maximize uptime, and support quality objectives.
- Act as a technical subject matter expert for utility systems, maintenance processes, and equipment-related challenges.
- Support maintenance technicians by providing engineering expertise, troubleshooting assistance, and practical solutions to complex issues.
- Conduct failure analyses to determine underlying causes of recurring equipment problems and implement effective corrective actions.
- Evaluate and enhance preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment longevity and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Maintain regular communication with operations leadership and functional teams to align maintenance priorities and activities.
- Identify and source necessary parts, materials, and resources required to support maintenance and repair efforts.
- Lead capital and process improvement projects from concept through execution, including planning, budgeting, contractor coordination, installation oversight, and startup support.
- Analyze equipment performance trends and maintenance data to identify opportunities for long-term reliability improvements.
- Manage and monitor third-party service providers and contractors to ensure work is completed safely, effectively, and in accordance with project requirements.
Required Experience/Skills for the Maintenance Engineer:
- 3+ years of engineering experience within chemical manufacturing, food processing, or similar industrial environments.
- Knowledge of industrial maintenance methodologies including PM, PDM, CMMS, RCM, and TPM.
- Understanding of engineering standards and safety practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience coordinating, training, and motivating maintenance personnel and contractors.
- Strong communication and technical writing skills.
- Ability to estimate, plan, schedule, and complete work orders effectively.
- Experience managing budgets and estimating project costs.
- Knowledge of capital expenditure management and return-on-investment principles.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Maintenance Engineer:
- Experience with plant utility systems including boilers, steam distribution, water treatment, and compressed air systems.
- Experience leading continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives.
- Project management and commissioning experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
