Job description

A Maintenance Manager oversees the maintenance and repair operations of the facility’s equipment, machinery, and buildings. They lead and mentor the maintenance team, plan and implement preventive maintenance schedules, manage vendor and contractor relationships, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Key duties include minimizing downtime, managing maintenance budgets and inventories, conducting inspections, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining documentation for regulatory compliance. This role requires coordination with production teams to prioritize maintenance activities and often involves managing capital projects and process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs. Strong leadership, communication, and technical skills in mechanical and electrical systems are essential for success in this role.

Essential Functions:

· Overseeing and directing all maintenance activities to ensure equipment, machinery, and facilities operate efficiently, minimizing downtime and disruptions.

· Designing, implementing, and managing preventive and predictive maintenance programs to extend asset life and reduce unplanned failures.

· Directing, training, and managing the maintenance team, including scheduling work, supervising technicians, and conducting performance reviews.

· Managing maintenance budgets, controlling expenses, and optimizing resource allocation including spare parts inventory and contractor/vendor relationships.

· Ensuring compliance with safety regulations, legal standards, and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.

· Coordinating with production and other departments to prioritize maintenance tasks aligned with operational goals.

· Utilizing technology such as ERP systems for work order tracking, asset management, and reporting.

· Conducting inspections, analyzing maintenance data, and preparing reports on maintenance activities and key performance indicators (KPIs).

· Guiding continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance processes, efficiency, and equipment reliability.

· Managing capital projects related to equipment upgrades, replacements, or installations.

· Enforcing safety programs including lock-out/tag-out, confined space entry, and other regulatory compliance protocols.

Qualifications & Experience:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· A technical associate degree or a bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial technology, facilities management, or a related field is often preferred. However, equivalent combinations of education and extensive experience can also qualify.

· Typically, 5 to 10 years of hands-on maintenance experience, including supervisory or leadership roles in an industrial or manufacturing setting.

· Proficiency in maintenance processes including preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance. Knowledge of or exposure to mechanical and electrical systems, PLC troubleshooting, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) like IFS or SAP.

· Strong leadership and team management abilities, excellent communication skills, problem-solving and critical thinking, organizational planning, adaptability, and safety leadership.

· Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance (e.g., OSHA), inventory control management, data analysis for maintenance metrics, and Demonstrated ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives.

· Certifications such as Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP), or training in safety and project management.

· Knowledge of industrial operations, maintenance, and engineering principles.

· Ability to develop, track, and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources.

· Competence with project management and collaboration software (e.g., MS Project).

· Familiarity with procurement, contract management, and vendor relations.

· Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.

· Experience with risk management, cost estimation, and resource allocation.
