Job Description

University Village Thousand Oaks is hiring a full-time salaried Maintenance Director! The Maintenance Director is responsible for overseeing the care and maintenance of all aspects of the campus; hiring, training, and supervising all plant personnel; coordinating life safety, transportation, and landscaping programs; and procuring supplies, materials, and equipment.

Compensation: $100,000-$110,000 annually (DOE) plus 15% annual bonus potential

Principal Duties:

  • Hire, educate, and coach all maintenance and transportation team members
  • Responsible for performance management and results of the department, including employee engagement and satisfaction
  • Be on-call 24/7 to respond to emergencies
  • Supervise landscaping, maintenance, and safety personnel through inspections and quality assurance procedures
  • Delegate tasks to staff for smooth operations
  • Establish routine and preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment and buildings
  • Maintain emergency medical and power generating equipment
  • Coordinate painting and refurbishing efforts community-wide
  • Maintain fire and life safety equipment
  • Advise the Executive Director on maintenance and repair needs
  • Participate in budgeting processes and operate within budget guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including Dept. of Social Services, CDPH, OSHA, CMS, Fire Marshall, OSHPD, NFPA, etc.
  • Monitor Infection Control Guidelines
  • Maintain accurate inventory systems and report quarterly to the accounting director
  • Provide oversight and leadership for community capital projects

Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of plant operations and engineering; Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred
  • Experience with construction and working with subcontractors
  • 7-10 years of experience in plant engineering and/or trades (plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, refrigeration, grounds maintenance, masonry)
  • At least 5 years of budgeting accountability
  • At least 5 years of mid-level management experience
  • Knowledge of state & federal regulations, Title 22, and NFPA 101: Life Safety Code
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Passion for providing excellent customer service
