Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College in Kokomo, IN is seeking a part-time Custodian to keep classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas clean, safe, and welcoming for students and staff.

Daily duties include cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining floors; restocking supplies; setting up rooms for classes and events; and reporting safety issues. The role requires reliable teamwork and the ability to follow instructions. Hours are Monday–Friday with some evenings or weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Follow campus safety, cleaning standards, and OSHA guidelines.
• Report maintenance or safety issues to supervisors.
• Secure facilities after operations.
• Properly handle and store cleaning chemicals using SDS and PPE.

GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION: The Custodian helps keep campus buildings clean, safe, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors. This role supports daily operations by maintaining classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas to keep buildings as attractive as possible.Responsibilities:Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areasSweep, mop, vacuum, and care for floors and carpetsEmpty trash and recyclingRefill restroom and cleaning suppliesSet up rooms for classes, meetings, and eventsUse cleaning equipment and supplies safelyReport on maintenance or safety issues to supervisorsFollow campus safety and cleaning standardsSecure all facilities at completion of operations.Use cleaning equipment and supplies safely.Indoor campus buildings; occasional outdoor dutiesFollow all Ivy Tech safety policies, established cleaning standards, and applicable OSHA guidelines. Properly handle and store cleaning chemicals using Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
