SafeTech-USA Component Maintenance Technician Job Description
SafeTech-USA, a division of SK AeroSafety Group, is actively seeking a Component Maintenance Technician for our Inflatables shop at our aviation MRO facility in Indianapolis, Indiana. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong work ethic, capable of reading and understanding FAA manuals. Responsibilities include testing and packing inflatable units, with opportunities to assist in other safety equipment repair shops as needed.
Position Summary:
We seek a mechanically skilled and detail-oriented Component Maintenance Technician to join our growing MRO team. You will inspect, test, service, and repair aircraft components such as fire bottles, oxygen assemblies, evacuation slides, and rafts. On-the-job training will be provided for qualified candidates interested in the aviation industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on aircraft safety equipment using OEM data, FAA/EASA regulations, and company policies.
- Disassemble, clean, and reassemble components accurately.
- Conduct validation and verification testing of parts and assemblies.
- Use specialized tools (e.g., torque wrenches, multimeters, mills, lathes) to diagnose and fix mechanical and pneumatic issues.
- Maintain detailed records and electronic documentation of all maintenance activities.
- Follow safety protocols and uphold quality standards.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; technical/vocational training preferred.
- Proficient in basic math skills, including fractions and decimals.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to interpret technical documents, manuals, and schematics.
- Physical ability to lift 50-100 lbs., and perform tasks like bending, kneeling, and pulling.
- Good eyesight, including color vision, and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and inventory.
- Teamwork-oriented mindset.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background checks.
- US Citizen or resident.
