Job summary

Cambridge House of Swansea is hiring a Maintenance Assistant in Swansea, IL. This full-time role supports safety programs and maintains a secure living environment for residents, under supervision.

Responsibilities include preventative maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and completing maintenance requests promptly. Strong communication with residents and adherence to care values are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience in HVAC systems and/or electrical work is required.
  • Past experience in senior living is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the community safety program and maintain a secure resident home and environment as directed.
  • Sustain a preventative maintenance program for HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Address maintenance requests, scheduled and emergency, promptly and efficiently.
  • Repair or install minor equipment and controls as approved by leadership.
  • Maintain water heaters, furnaces and kitchen equipment in working condition.
  • Maintain community plumbing systems and general exterior maintenance.
  • Lead fire and disaster drill activities with residents and team members.
  • Engage with residents in a compassionate and dignified manner.

Salary Range: $20.00 - $20.50 Hourly
Job Shift: 1st shift

Responsibilities
  • Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Director, our Maintenance Assistant oversees the Community safety program and maintains a secure resident home and working environment in compliance with policy and regulations
  • Sustains a preventative maintenance program to maintain proper functioning of all Community equipment, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
  • Completes all maintenance requests, both scheduled and emergency, quickly and efficiently
  • Mechanically repair, replace, and/or install minor equipment, hardware, and controls. Such scope of work is to be cleared by the Executive Director
  • Maintain water heaters, furnaces, air conditioners, kitchen equipment and associated equipment
  • Maintain community plumbing systems
  • Performs exterior maintenance duties
  • Performs fire and disaster drill activities with residents and team members
  • Engages with residents in a compassionate and impactful manner, cultivating a warm and supportive environment where the values of love, compassion, and dignity are reflected in every interaction
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent required
  • Experience in HVAC systems and/or electrical required
  • Prior senior living experience desired
  • Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
