POSITION SUMMARY
As a Maintenance Assistant in our Assisted Living facility, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the physical environment to ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of our residents and staff. You will work under the direction of the Maintenance Director or Executive Director to perform a variety of general maintenance tasks. Your skills, knowledge, and attention to detail will contribute to the efficient operation of our facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to all components of the above position summary, the following “Essential Duties and Responsibilities” are essential to successful performance in this position:
- Assist in the general maintenance and repair of the facility, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry work.
- Perform routine inspections of equipment, systems, and facilities to identify maintenance needs or potential issues.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders, prioritizing tasks and ensuring timely completion.
- Conduct preventative maintenance activities, such as filter replacements, equipment lubrication, and inspections, as directed.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of furniture, fixtures, and equipment for various events and resident needs.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas, equipment storage, and inventory.
- Monitor and maintain the facility’s inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, reporting any shortages or needs to the supervisor.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and adhere to proper procedures for the handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Report any safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor promptly.
- Collaborate with contractors and vendors as needed for repairs, inspections, or maintenance projects.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- The incumbent in this position does not have any direct supervision.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS
- At least 18 years of age.
- Required Health Screening, TB Clearance, and Criminal Record Clearance.
- Any special licenses, certifications, and certificates (First Aid/ CPR Certified).
- Special skills needed to meet client needs [California Code of Regulations Sections: 85065(f)/87411(g)].
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certifications in maintenance, trades, or related fields are desirable.
- Previous experience in general maintenance or a related role, preferably in a healthcare or senior care environment.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry systems and repairs.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Pay scale: $21 - $26 per hour.
