Maintenance Assistant

Location: Holland, MI

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Maintenance Director, the Maintenance Assistant is responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of the physical facility (building and grounds), including preventative maintenance, repairs, and inspections.

Key responsibilities:

• Ensure all aspects of the building are in a good state of repair.
• Respond to maintenance requests promptly.
• Maintain Unit Maintenance Log for each apartment.
• Monitor and maintain Building Inspection Schedule, including preventative maintenance and system inspections.
• Remain on call 24 hours a day for emergency maintenance needs.
• Perform routine janitorial duties to keep the building and grounds clean and neat.
• Handle snow removal and landscaping not performed by outside contractors.
• Perform annual unit inspections and complete required documentation.
• Order maintenance supplies and monitor inventory levels.
• Maintain dumpster area and oversee trash pickup.
• Conduct welcome orientation for new residents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

• Excellent communication skills and compassion for older adults.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling systems, and general repairs.
• Motivated, self-starting, task-oriented, computer literate, team player.
• Aspiring to grow into a full-time Maintenance Director role.
