Position Summary

The Maintenance Assistant provides quality maintenance services to the community, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, and a polished appearance in accordance with all laws, regulations, and Century Park standards. Reports to the Maintenance Director.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of one (1) year maintenance experience preferred
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems preferred
• Familiarity with local building codes and ordinances preferred

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Assist Maintenance Services Director with maintenance programs for heating, cooling, water, gas, electrical, mechanical, grounds, carpentry, painting, sprinklers, fire alarms, plumbing, building exteriors, etc.
• Identify repairs or replacements needed in apartments, common areas, landscaping, signage, sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, fences, curbs, and retaining walls
• Complete work orders from residents and staff
• Perform minor repairs such as appliances and small fixtures
• Prepare apartments for residency through repairs and painting
• Assist with preventive maintenance to prevent costly future repairs
• Promote energy conservation community-wide
• Report equipment needs and low supplies to supervisor
• Handle special projects like room alterations and major repairs
• Routine cleaning of fire sprinkler heads
• Assist in housekeeping duties when needed
• Handle incoming freight and move heavy furniture and equipment
• Maintain grounds cleanliness and assist with landscaping
• Ensure traffic areas are free of debris, snow, and hazards
• Assist with floor maintenance tasks
• Support resident move-in and move-out processes

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
• Ability to make independent decisions when necessary
• Knowledge of maintenance practices, laws, and regulations in an assisted living community
• Ability to implement departmental policies and procedures
• Proficiency in maintenance responsibilities, resident rights, safety, and sanitation
• Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
• Adhere to company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures
• Demonstrate integrity and professionalism, following Century Park’s Code of Ethics and completing required training
