Responsibilities:

• Assist with landscaping tasks, mowing, trimming, planting, etc.
• Maintain lawn care equipment.
• Maintain/repair/clean windows and screens.
• Clean and/or paint exterior surfaces as needed.
• Replace burned out light bulbs in all areas of the facility.
• Clean/vacuum refrigerator/freezer coils and compressors.
• Service heating and cooling units according to manufacturer guidelines and facility policies and procedures.
• Assist with fire drills and building evacuations.
• Complete life safety code assignments and safety audits.
• Assist in maintaining plant operations and life safety records.
• Maintain handicapped bars in baths and assist with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing repairs.
• Test and record water temperatures.
• Repair call systems, cords, call bells, bed alarms, chair alarms.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on commercial washers and dryers.
• Ensure fire extinguishers are current and functional.
• Perform carpentry duties, operate saws and hand tools, repair walls, paint, caulk, strip and stain furniture, repair floor tiles, install drywall.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience with commercial maintenance, plumbing, electrical systems, alarm systems, appliances, and HVAC units.
• General construction experience is preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Professional appearance and attitude.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to make independent decisions.
• Genuine care and understanding of the elderly and persons with disabilities.
• Ability to deal tactfully with residents, families, visitors, and staff.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Patience, tact, positivity, and enthusiasm.
• Willingness to learn new methods and incorporate them into practices.
• Ability to relate resident condition information appropriately.
• No pose of health or safety threats to others.
