Job summary

The Villages of Lakewest in Dallas, TX is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to ensure that the building, equipment, and utilities are maintained in accordance with facility policies and local, state, and federal regulations.

You will perform routine maintenance, assist with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry tasks, and respond to emergencies, with opportunities to grow within a dedicated care team.

Qualifications

• HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems knowledge is a plus.
• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and lift heavy equipment.
• Read and interpret safety rules and manuals and maintenance instructions.
• Work in a team and follow supervisor instructions.
• May require hours outside of normal work times.
• HVAC, Plumbing or Electrical licensure a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine building maintenance: painting, minor electrical repairs, plumbing, carpentry, and systems maintenance.
• Clean interior and machinery/exterior of the building.
• Complete administrative duties and report maintenance statuses to supervisor.
• Comply with safety and health regulations.
• Keep inventory of maintenance and cleaning supplies and report needs to supervisor.
• Respond to emergency maintenance calls.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues.
• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• Work with contracted vendors.
• Other duties assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED

• 2+ years of experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems (including relevant equipment and tools) is a plus.

• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time; ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and lift or move heavy equipment.

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals and documents.

• Ability to work in a team and follow instructions from supervisors.

• May be required to work outside of normal work hours.

• HVAC, Plumbing, or Electrical licensure a plus. HVAC, Plumbing and EPA certifications a plus.

Essential Functions:

• Perform routine building maintenance duties, including painting, minor electrical repairs, plumbing, carpentry, and heating and ventilation systems maintenance.

• Clean interior of the building, as well as machinery and equipment, and exterior of the building

• Complete administrative duties, such as filling out forms and reporting maintenance statuses to supervisor.

• Comply with all safety and health regulations.

• Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices.

• Keep inventory of maintenance and cleaning supplies and equipment, and report needs to supervisor.

• Respond to emergency calls for maintenance and repairs.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues.

• Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds.

• Work with and maintain relationships with contracted vendors.

• Any other duties assigned.
