Overview
Maintenance team members assist with ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by providing maintenance support. This position is responsible for ensuring resident and staff safety through repairs to buildings and furnishings, as well as grounds upkeep including lawn care and snow/ice removal.

Essential Job Functions
- Assist with and perform duties related to electricity, plumbing, painting, carpentry (including furniture refinishing or repair), mechanics (including equipment and mechanical systems), heating, cooling, and water systems (excluding those under outside contractor service contracts).
- Assist with maintenance of grounds, parking lots, and driveways (including snow/ice removal, excluding contracted services).
- Handle incoming and outgoing freight; lift and move heavy furniture and equipment.
- Respect residents' rights and treat all residents with courtesy, respect, and kindness.
- Drive company vehicle as needed/requested.
- Arrive on time, work as scheduled, and be responsible for own transportation.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information and privacy.
- Attend facility meetings, staff meetings, and required or preferred inservices.
- Generate ideas to improve resident care or increase productivity and satisfaction.
- Perform duties according to safety rules and standards to ensure safety of staff, residents, and visitors.
- Understand and reference all policies and procedures.
- Provide high-quality customer service to residents, staff, and visitors.
- Respond flexibly to changing situations and reprioritize work as needed.
- Take calls during off-hours and adjust schedule accordingly.
- Use electronic timekeeping systems as directed.
- Follow dress code, including wearing a name tag at all times.
- Follow policies regarding electronic devices and computer use.
- Support and abide by Elderwood’s Mission, Vision, and Values, as well as conduct and HIPAA policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years old
- At least 1 year of related experience (maintenance, carpentry, contracting, etc.)
- Valid driver’s license
- Participation in on-call program, including off-hours work
- Experience with equipment such as hand tools, lawn mowers, snowblowers, etc.
- HS diploma or equivalent preferred
- Genuine concern for the elderly; dependable, patient, compassionate attitude
Note: This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, and the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate or higher level.
