The Maintenance Assistant supports maintenance and horticulture in maintaining properties and performing general maintenance and horticulture tasks.

Responsibilities

• General repairs & maintenance- Plumbing- Electrical- Carpentry- Heating and cooling repairs- Interior and exterior painting• Preventative maintenance• Curb appeal• Assist with turnovers (Commercial suite and/or Residential apartments)• Snow removal• Assist with building cleaning and housekeeping needs

• Answer emergency maintenance calls on a schedule basis

Seasonal Horticulture to include:• Assist in the daily upkeep of plants• Plant, weed, mulch, prune, and water plants & shrubs• Assist in the daily/weekly inspection of grounds

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required

• A strong aptitude in maintenance trades such as plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems; HVAC certification preferred

• Self-starter with good interpersonal skills• Familiarity with and ability to use smart phones, MS Outlook, Adobe PDF• Must have reliable transportation and valid driver's license

• Must strictly adhere to safety requirements• Maintain regular and punctual attendance• Must maintain company quality and quantity standards• Must have effective oral and written communication skills• Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work in collaborative and independent work situations and environments with minimal supervision

Physical Requirements:

• Able to climb stairs, ladders• Ability to walk, stand for long periods of time• Able to bend & lift, crouch & stoop, kneeling & crawling• Overhead reach, pushing, pulling, and hand tool use• Able to lift 50+ pounds
