Job summary

Tennessee State Veterans’ Homes is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join our team. You will help maintain and repair our facility, equipment, and grounds, applying strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

The role involves inspecting, repairing electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, and supporting the maintenance team to keep a safe, efficient environment for staff and residents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Prior maintenance or similar role experience preferred.
• Mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC basics helpful.
• Ability to read manuals and diagrams for repairs.
• Strong teamwork and communication abilities, with attention to safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist in routine maintenance and repairs of equipment and facilities.
• Perform inspections and identify maintenance needs for timely action.
• Support electrical, plumbing, and HVAC troubleshooting.
• Care for grounds including landscaping and snow removal as needed.
• Maintain records of work orders, repairs and schedules.
• Ensure a safe, clean working environment and report hazards.
• Assist with preventative maintenance to reduce downtime.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Maintenance Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of our facility, equipment, and grounds. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist in performing routine maintenance tasks, such as inspecting, cleaning, and repairing equipment and machinery.
• Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify any maintenance requirements and address them promptly.
• Assist in troubleshooting and repairing electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
• Support the maintenance team in repairing and maintaining the grounds, including landscaping, irrigation, and snow removal.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and maintenance schedules.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure a safe and clean working environment for employees and visitors.
• Comply with all safety regulations and procedures, reporting any safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.
• Assist in performing preventative maintenance activities to prolong the lifespan of equipment and minimize downtime.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a maintenance or similar role is preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams.

• High attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks.
• Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
