Job summary

Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly, Iowa is seeking a full-time maintenance worker to assist in providing necessary maintenance for the facility. You will create a pleasant and comfortable environment for residents and employees.

The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma and experience in areas such as electrical repair, plumbing, and construction. A driver's license is mandatory. This role includes a requirement for physical work, including lifting and snow removal responsibilities.

• Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
• Driver’s License required.

Full-time 1st shift on call rotation required. Sundays - Thursdays.

Assist in providing maintenance necessary for the care of facility, creating a pleasant and comfortable physical environment for residents, employees, and general public.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience working with or in the field of electrical repair, boiler maintenance, painter, construction, plumbing, and groundskeeper preferred.
• Must be available to work other than normal hours as needed and be able to assume pager responsibilities.
• Driver’s License
• Regular attendance is required.
• Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.

Physical Requirements

• Walking: 3-7 hours/day
• Lifting: Over 50 lbs with good body mechanics or 25-50 lbs with improper mechanics
• Twisting: Moderate: 121-480 twists/day (480 based upon 1 twist per minute)
• Bending: Moderate bending: 121-480 bends/day (480 based on 1 bend/minute)
• Squat/Kneel: 3-7 hours/day
• Endurance: Heavy energy requirements (7-9 mets)

Assist with snow removal on the property as assigned.
