Job summary

Job description

Glenbrook South High School's Buildings and Grounds department is seeking a Maintenance worker for the 2026- 2027 school year. This position is a year-round role operating on a 260-day work calendar.

The Maintenance worker ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of school facilities across the district. Working under the direction of the Buildings and Grounds Manager and Assistant Buildings and Grounds Manager, this position is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks related to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, heating, and HVAC systems. The technician ensures that all building systems and equipment are properly maintained and assists in the planning and execution of preventive maintenance programs. This individual is familiar with school policies, safety procedures, and departmental expectations and performs duties in a dynamic environment requiring flexibility and attention to detail. The technician will maintain and promote a positive atmosphere that supports a cooperative, efficient, and service-oriented work environment while keeping the needs of the school community a priority.

Education and/or Experience and Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with at least five years of experience preferred.
  2. Experience in an educational environment and/or business preferred.
  3. Must have a valid Illinois Driver’s License with a clean driving record as indicated through a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
  4. Pool Operator License preferred.
  5. Maintained punctual and regular attendance.
  6. Desire for continued professional development is essential.
