  • Repairs/installs equipment and utility systems as required.
  • Maintains inventory of tools and materials for maintenance work.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the District Maintenance Director.

Job Description

TITLE: General Maintenance DUTY DAYS: 260 days

QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma/GED and experience

REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance

JOB GOAL: Coordinates maintenance for all of the campuses

PAY GRADE: Maintenance Salary Scale FLSA: Non Exempt

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Exhibits competence in the use of tools, equipment, and materials of the carpentry and plumbing trades skillfully and safety
  • Works from blueprints, plans, specifications, and layout sketches
  • Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding and platforms as well as to work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
  • Ability to lift heavy objects within reason
  • Demonstrates aptitude/competence for assigned responsibilities
  • Installs, modifies, and repairs new and existing equipment
  • Installs, modifies, and repairs new and existing utility supply and disposal systems
  • Installs valves, traps, and unions needed for proper operation of systems
  • Inspects and tests piping after completing repairs, alterations or additions
  • Checks piping, fittings and fixtures for defective parts or connections
  • If qualified, monitors boiler/mechanical rooms and related equipment in the district
  • Installs tile, ceilings, and cabinet tops
  • Building furniture, shelving, ramps and bulletin boards
  • Remodels classrooms, offices and buildings
  • Paints classrooms, offices, building exteriors and equipment
  • Repairs small roof leaks (that don't require major repair)
  • Works with concrete
  • Carries out a preventative maintenance program set up on a schedule
  • Maintains an inventory of necessary tools and materials necessary for maintenance work
  • Assists in other maintenance (i.e., the up-keep of structures) areas as assigned, and performs related work as required
  • Performs such other duties assigned by the Campus Principal or the District Maintenance Director

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 50 pounds)

Environment: Frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
