Job summary

Crown Holdings, Inc. is seeking a Maintainer Trainee for its Olympia, WA facility. The role involves supporting the setup, maintenance, and repair of beverage packaging lines while completing a structured 6,000-hour training program.

Starting wage is $38.64 per hour with progression to $40.21 per hour as training hours advance. Training includes comprehensive safety and on-the-job instruction, with full benefits after eligibility timelines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Mechanical experience or familiarity with power and hand tools is a plus.
  • Must pass the Munsell Color test.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must stand for long periods and work on elevated platforms in varied climates.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, repair and overhaul equipment to maintain production quality.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and quality checks on can line equipment.
  • Disassemble, replace and reassemble machinery and inspect components.
  • Record production, quality and maintenance activities accurately.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform repairs as needed.
  • Maintain safety compliance across all duties and shift operations.

DIVISION OVERVIEW:

Crown’s Beverage Division manufactures a variety of packaging solutions for soft drinks, craft beers, coffees and teas as well as new energy drinks. Crown Beverage leads the packaging industry with innovative technologies that redefine how the world looks at beverage cans. With a large printable surface area and a wide range of sizes, shapes and decorating options, our aluminum cans are the perfect packaging format to create compelling brand presence where it counts. Here at the Olympia Plant, we currently manufacture 12 oz. beverage cans. It is your chance to join the Crown Beverage Division.

WAGES:

Union Contract: This position is in the training program. The successful candidate will be required to complete a 6,000-hour training program to be fully qualified as a Maintainer. Extensive on-the-job-training (OJT) will be provided.

SALARY:

Starting Wage $38.64/hr - progressing every 2,000 training hours up to 6,000 training hours at $40.21/hr as a fully trained Maintainer.

BENEFITS:

Primary Functions Include

This Maintainer Trainee position will be responsible for setting up, adjust, repair, overhaul, perform PM’s (preventive maintenances), ESEs (quality adjustment checks), and evaluate seamless can line equipment as required to maintain standard quality and quantity production.

  • Has primary responsibility for safe mechanical performance of line and standard production output
  • Disassemble, replace, reassemble, inspect, and maintain assigned machinery and equipment as required
  • Measure and record all can dimensions against specifications
  • Maintain records of production, quality and other related records as directed
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues; perform mechanical repairs and maintenance for production equipment
  • Has primary responsibility for safety for all areas of assigned duties
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency
  • Mechanical experiences working in a manufacturing setting or familiarity with power and hand tools are a plus
  • This position requires a successful passing of the Munsell Color test
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must possess basic math skills
  • Must be able to stand for long periods as well as work on elevated stationary platforms and withstand extreme climate changes especially during summer and winter months
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail, good record keeping and precision abilities is highly desirable
  • Ability to work under time pressures and flexibility to adjust to sudden work patterns or schedules
  • Ability to work independently and with teams and must have good interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, evenings, weekends, and overtime as business needs dictate
  • Fully comply with all OSHA and WISHA safety rules and regulations
  • This position requires union membership after 30 days of hire
