Job summary
M&T Bank seeks an expert-level mainframe software engineer to lead technical design, delivery, and requirements for critical applications. The role focuses on driving modernization, DevOps adoption, and resilient production readiness across batch and online processing.
You will own technical outcomes, review designs, and collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and risk controls. Buffalo-based role.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree and a minimum of 5 years’ systems analysis and/or application development work experience or Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ systems analysis and/or application development work experience.
- Experience working with mainframe modernization and DevOps practices is a plus.
- Strong SDLC, testing, deployment, resiliency, and security understanding.
Responsibilities
- Lead design, development, enhancement, and support of mainframe applications while ensuring SDLC governance.
- Own technical decisions and delivery quality for assigned platforms and workstreams.
- Partner with stakeholders to align delivery with priorities, risk controls, and enterprise standards.
- Drive modernization efforts including API enablement and data integration.
- Promote CI/CD and automated testing to improve productivity and reduce manual work.
