Job summary

Net2Source (N2S) seeks a Senior Mainframe Storage Administrator in Plano, TX to manage IBM z/OS storage infrastructure in a 24x7 enterprise environment. You will lead DASD provisioning, Hitachi subsystems, and VTS/VTL configurations end-to-end.

The role requires deep DFSMS/SMS/ACS knowledge, capacity planning, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery readiness. Collaboration with system programmers and application teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of professional work experience as a Mainframe Storage administrator.
• Deep knowledge of IBM z/OS Storage Management.
• Hands-on experience with Hitachi Disk Storage (HDS/VSP, USP, VSP G Series).
• Experience administering VTS or VTL in mainframe environments.
• Strong understanding of DFSMS, SMS, ACS routines, and storage groups.
• Experience with DASD management, allocation, migration, and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with backup and recovery processes for mainframe storage.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support IBM mainframe storage infrastructure in a 24x7 enterprise environment.
• Manage and maintain DASD storage using Hitachi Disk Storage (HDS/VSP) and related subsystems.
• Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot VTS/VTL and physical tape environments.
• Perform storage allocation, provisioning, migration, and reclamation activities.
• Administer DFSMS, SMS policies, ACS routines, and storage groups.
• Monitor storage utilization, perform capacity planning, and recommend optimization strategies.
• Support backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery activities.
• Perform storage performance analysis and tuning for optimal system performance.
• Coordinate storage-related software and hardware upgrades.
• Troubleshoot storage incidents and resolve complex production issues.
• Collaborate with system programmers, application teams, and infra teams during projects.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and storage standards.
• Ensure compliance with security, audit, and operational policies.
• Participate in on-call production support and maintenance activities.
