The role focuses on designing, developing, testing, and maintaining mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.

The ideal candidate possesses extensive IBM mainframe development experience and strong knowledge of the full software development lifecycle, with a proven track record in production

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
10+ years of mainframe development experience with COBOL/JCL/CICS/DB2/VSAM.
15+ years of experience with DB2 utilities (QMF, SPUFI) and IBM utilities (IEBGENER, IDCAMS, ICETOOL, SORT).
15+ years across software delivery activities and z/OS platforms and related tooling.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications.
Analyze requirements and translate into technical specs and code.
Collaborate with business, IT, and DBAs to deliver enhancements.
Develop and execute unit and integration test plans and scripts.
Support UAT and integration testing throughout SDLC.
Provide on-call production support as required.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Programmer Analyst to support system maintenance, enhancements, and production operations for the DHS Special Projects Team. The role involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM. The ideal candidate will have extensive IBM mainframe development experience and strong knowledge of the full software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications.
Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and application code.
Collaborate with business teams, IT teams, and DBAs to deliver application enhancements.
Develop and execute unit and integration test plans and scripts.
Support business acceptance testing and integration testing.
Participate in all phases of the SDLC, including requirements, design, development, testing, and implementation.
Perform production support and troubleshoot application issues.
Provide on-call production support as required.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
10+ years of mainframe development experience.
10+ years of hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and related mainframe technologies.
15+ years of experience with DB2 utilities, including QMF and SPUFI.
15+ years of experience with IBM utilities, including IEBGENER, IDCAMS, ICETOOL, SORT, CICS and Batch Debugger, File Manager, and Fault Analyzer.
15+ years of experience across software delivery activities, including requirements, design, development, and testing.
15+ years of experience with Changeman, Control-M Scheduling, and z/OS platforms.
Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
