Job summary

Bank of America in Jersey City is seeking an experienced z/OS Mainframe Engineer to ensure stable, secure, and scalable mainframe services. You will lead engineering efforts, perform problem diagnosis, and implement system improvements across z/OS and related subsystems.

The role demands deep knowledge of RACF security, SMP/E, z/OSMF, and performance tools, with on-call duties and potential weekend/holiday coverage in a large enterprise environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated working knowledge of IBM z/OS including system control, architecture, and RACF security.
• Hands-on experience supporting IBM z/OS in large-scale, globally deployed environments.
• Advanced problem-determination skills with root-cause analysis and timely resolution.
• Subject-matter expertise in mainframe systems programming and technical leadership.
• Experience with z/OS 3.1 environments running JES2.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for operation, modernization, and reliability of the z/OS platform.
• Design, develop, and implement system engineering solutions with limited oversight.
• Perform problem determination and resolution for z/OS issues.
• Install, configure, test, and support z/OS and related software.
• Collaborate with networking, storage, security, and application teams for reliable integration.
• Create and maintain documentation for systems, configuration, and troubleshooting.
