Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a skilled Mainframe z/OS administrator in Alabama to install, configure and support z/OS platform software across multiple sysplexes. You will provide technical MIS/end-user support and coach junior staff while handling on-call duties and ongoing improvements.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of relevant experience, solid knowledge of z/OS components, DB2, JCL and IBM administration tools, plus strong collaboration with engineers and architects to meet project goals.

Qualifications

Experience installing, configuring and supporting the z/OS platform software.
Proficient with z/OS SMP/E, and Mainframe JCL.
DB2 for z/OS or DB2 LUW installation and support.
Experience with IBM Administration Tool and IBM Query Monitor.
Programming in REXX, CLIST, SAS, COBOL, or ASM.
Familiar with CA-7, CA-OPSMVS.
Knowledge of TCP/IP, VSAM, ISPF, JIRA, SharePoint, Service Now.
Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
3+ years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, test & deploy mainframe system software across multiple sysplexes.
Provide technical support to MIS & End Users.
Coach junior staff.
General platform support including troubleshooting, issue resolution and on‑call duties.
Apply solution design to meet customer needs.
Design, build and maintain infrastructure technology solutions.
Develop software components and hardware for projects aligned with business objectives.
Independently solve problems and update applications with new technology.
Collaborate with engineers, architects, developers and staff to meet project objectives.
Analyze customer needs and provide ongoing support for clients.
