Overview

Hybrid; onsite 2 days/week in Brooklyn Park, MN

1+ year contract

Base pay range

$45.00/hr - $75.00/hr

As a Mid-Level Contract Engineer, you will work in the engineering team that supports a technology product. You show expertise in applying the appropriate software development and operation skills to maintain, build, and support our applications using your software engineering skills. This includes analysis gathering, design, development testing and implementation of solutions. You are an expert in programming and apply your skills in developing the product. You show good problem-solving skills and can help the team in triaging operational issues. You leverage your expertise in eliminating repeat occurrences. This role does require rotating on-call support of product as users work on applications 24x7.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the engineering team to maintain, build, and support applications using software engineering skills.
• Analyze requirements, design, develop, test, and implement solutions.
• Develop expert programming solutions and contribute to product development.
• Triages operational issues and helps eliminate repeat occurrences.
• Provide on-call support for product operations on a rotating basis.
• Maintain technical documentation for assigned areas.

Required Qualifications

• 4 year degree or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of software development experience
• Designs new testing methods and resolves routine and non-routine technical issues with minimal assistance
• Builds strong commitment within the team to support the appropriate team priorities
• Clearly communicates Agile concepts to partners within product team
• Delivers high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure deliverables
• Influences and applies data standards, policies, and procedures
• Maintains technical documentation within areas assigned
• Awareness of integrations to/from modern tech stack (Use of Kafka, APIs, etc)
• Proficiency in Programming Language: COBOL
• Experience in z/OS Operating System
• Experience in DB2
• Experience in Job Control Language: JCL
• Analyze batch processes and impacts of changes
• Experience in building integrations with modern systems
• Experience in Technologies like CICS, VSAM, MQ
