Job summary

Akkodis is seeking an experienced z/OS mainframe engineer to support production environments on IBM Z systems. You will troubleshoot, optimize, and maintain complex batch processing, security, and performance tools across z13–z16 platforms.

The role requires deep knowledge of SMP/E, JES2/JES3, PAR Sysplex, RMF/SMF, and z/OSMF modernization. Excellent documentation and cross-team communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 8+ years supporting production z/OS mainframe environments.
• Strong systems programming with z/OS, JES2/JES3, JCL and batch processing.
• Hands-on SMP/E installation and maintenance.
• Experience with IBM z13, z14, z15, and/or z16 hardware platforms.
• Expertise with Parallel Sysplex, Coupling Facility, GRS, and WLM.
• I/O configuration using HCD/HCM.
• Mainframe scheduling and automation with CA-7, CA-11, OPS/MVS, AutoOps, or similar tools.
• Experience with RACF and/or ACF2 security administration.
• Performance monitoring and capacity management using RMF, SMF, OMEGAMON, MAINVIEW, or similar tools.
• Scripting with REXX, CLIST, and system utilities.
• Experience with zOSMF administration and modernization initiatives.
• Strong troubleshooting skills utilizing IPCS, Fault Analyzer, and Debug Tool for z/OS.
• Experience supporting DB2 for z/OS and IBM MQ.
• Exposure to z/VM environments.
• Excellent documentation, communication, and knowledge-transfer skills.

Job description

• Strong systems programming experience with z/OS, JES2/JES3, JCL, IPLs, and batch processing
• Hands‑on experience with SMP/E software installation and maintenance
• Experience supporting IBM z13, z14, z15, and/or z16 hardware platforms
• Expertise with Parallel Sysplex, Coupling Facility, GRS, and WLM
• I/O configuration experience using HCD/HCM
• Mainframe scheduling and automation experience with CA-7, CA-11, OPS/MVS, AutoOps, or similar tools
• Experience with RACF and/or ACF2 security administration

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with DB2 specialty tools (Broadcom/Platinum)
• Knowledge of cryptographic and security tools such as IC SF, zSecure, Vanguard, or Imperva
• Experience with storage replication technologies
• Familiarity with modern mainframe tooling including Ansible, Zowe, and Python
